Museum Donation Guide
The National Model Aviation Museum actively collects artifacts to grow its Object collection (Permanent Collection), Archives Collection, and Library. We are interested in hearing from you, although keep in mind that we are very careful in what we collect to make sure that the offered items meet the museum鈥檚 mission statement, its collections scope, and is not a duplicate of what is already in the collection.
DO NOT send anything to the museum without prior approval of museum staff. To offer items to the museum, please follow the steps as outlined below.

Money or related use items
You can donate money through the AMA's Donate webpage. If you would like to make a donation of equipment or materials for the museum to use, please contact the museum at museumcollections@modelaircraft.org, or at (765) 287-1256, ext. 500.
Model aircraft
1. Complete the (through Google Forms), which will send the form to the museum. Please use one form per model submitted. Google Forms will email you a copy of the completed form.
2. You cannot look ahead or save and come back to your work in Google Forms. It is suggested you plan your submission using the Word version first.
3. A Word version, and a PDF version are available. Please feel free to print and download to send through regular mail, or to email to museumcollections@modelaircraft.org. If you would like a paper copy mailed to you please contact (765) 287-1256, ext. 500.
4. In a separate email to museumcollections@modelaircraft.org send current, color photograph(s) of the model(s) submitted for review. Other photographs and relevant documents can also be attached to this email.
5. The model will be reviewed at the next Museum Acquisition Committee meeting. The Committee meets four times a year.
6. If you have problems or questions about the submission form, or donating a model aircraft, please contact us at museumcollections@modelaircraft.org or by calling (765) 287-1256, ext. 500.
7. Notification of acceptance will include information regarding shipping/delivery of the model. In most cases, the donor is expected to pay for these costs. Do not send your donation before it is accepted.
Radio equipment, engines, kits, building and flying equipment, or other artifact memorabilia
1. Put together a list of the items you want to donate including as much information as possible. Include information like what it is, the manufacturer, dates made/used, a brief description, and its current condition.
2. Photographs are helpful and appreciated, but are not needed with a detailed list.
3. Send the list and any photographs to museumcollections@modelaircraft.org. If you have questions, email or call us at (765) 287-1256, ext. 500.
4. Staff will compare the list to what is already in the museum鈥檚 collection, and evaluate what items are needed.
5. You might be asked to provide further information, or photographs.
6. Staff often talk to other staff members and volunteers about the possible donation. Depending on who's available, and the amount of items on the list, it could take up to two weeks for an answer.
7. Plans to ship/deliver the donation will be made only after the items have been accepted. In most cases, the donor is expected to pay for these costs. Do not send your donation before it is accepted.
Papers (ex. programs, correspondence, posters, catalogs) or audio/visual materials (ex. photographs, film, DVDs, albums) relating to aeromodeling
1. Create a list of the materials you would like to donate. Photos of materials will also work.
2. Send the list and any photographs to Jackie Shalberg, Archivist and Historian, via email at museumarchives@modelaircraft.org. If you have questions, email or call us at (765) 287-1256, ext. 511.
3. Jackie will review the list of items and contact you regarding what is needed for the archives.

Magazines and newsletters
1. Create a list of magazines and newsletters you would like to donate, with titles and dates. Check our magazine wish list for our most needed issues. The list is updated regularly.
2. Send the list and any photographs to Jackie Shalberg, Archivist and Historian, via email at museumarchives@modelaircraft.org. If you have questions, email or call us at (765) 287-1256, ext. 511.
3. Jackie will review the list of magazines and newsletters and contact you regarding what is needed for the library.

Please Note: Magazines and newsletters have been collected for the museum's Lee Renaud Memorial Library for decades, and we have a large collection with over 40,000 periodicals. For many magazine titles there are only a few issues needed, especially in regards to the major titles like Model Aviation, Flying Aces, Air Trails, and Model Airplane News. We cannot accept complete magazine collections, and will only ask for the single issues needed.
Books
1. Write down a list of book titles and the publication dates for the books you want to donate.
